Guide for converting a rescued toy into a MIDI controller

As part of my work as a graduate student in Instructional Technology, I wrote an in-depth guide on supercharging used kids toys using basic knowledge of microcontrollers and soldering.

I picked up a toy guitar from Salvation Army for $1.95, opened it up, then mapped out connection points for all the various buttons and sensors. Each of these inputs were connected with wires to a Teensy++ running custom firmware that watches for state changes and outputs MIDI notes over USB.

The guide gained over 40,000 views and was featured by the staff on Instructables.com.

In this video I'm using Pure Data to sonify the MIDI data being sent by the Teensy++.
